Village Square Update
We didn’t manage to take out the final gong at the Scottish Civic Trust ‘My Place’ award presentation announcement recently in Glasgow, but it was an honour just to be shortlisted and represent our community through this regeneration project, among only six right across Scotland to be shortlisted, including two others located in Dumfries & Galloway. Our congratulations go to Catherine Street Inclusive Play Park in Dumfries (winner) and Iona Village Hall Community Trust (commended). Thank you to those who gave up their time to contribute to our final assessment video for the judges. We couldn’t fit everyone into the 5 minute limit, so will be sharing a fuller version on our website and Facebook page in due course.
The noticeboard, slate commemorative plaque and funding sponsor signage have now all been installed. Planting by our garden designer Sian Roberts has been looking stunning so far this spring, with vibrant tulips and other colourful flowering plants putting on a magnificent show. Oak benches are also planned for installation beneath the wooden pagoda.
